  • Station North: A Light City Tour

Club Car 12 W. North, Baltimore, United States

As artists and restaurants are throwing open their doors for the monthly Station North Art Walk, join us on one of our Light City Baltimore tours to learn how this arts and entertainment area combines diversity with energy. It builds on a heritage of Korean businesses and famous Black-owned nightclubs that popularized Baltimore house music and put Baltimore jazz on the national map. This neighborhood has championed reusing old buildings like theatres, car dealerships and factories for new uses. And it's one of those places in Baltimore that is humming along even if many people don't know about it—art thrives here. Come explore its history and renaissance with us! This tour will occur the same night as the Station North Art Walk and we encourage you to check out the dozens of open art studios and restaurants before our tour starts!

Bromo Seltzer Tower 21 S Eutaw St, Baltimore, MD, United States

As artists for the Fall Bromo Art Walk are throwing open their studio doors, join Baltimore Heritage's Executive Director Johns Hopkins on one of our Light City Baltimore tours to learn how the FBI raided the Everyman Theater building, how we kept the lights on at the Hippodrome, and how Civil Rights protests outside of Baltimore’s Ford’s Theatre helped change segregation policies in the city. In addition to artists, this part of town is packed with quintessentially Baltimore landmarks–we’ll see Lexington Market, the Bromo Seltzer Tower, and some of the few remaining cast iron buildings in the city as they turn the lights on. This tour will occur the same night as the Bromo Art Walk and we encourage you to check out the dozens of open art studios before our tour starts! • El Barrio: A Light City Walking Tour

    509 S Broadway 509 S Broadway

Join Tola’s Room and Baltimore Heritage for El Barrio Walking Tour, a guided walk through Fells Point(once known as “El Barrio”) exploring the presence, experiences, and influence of Puerto Ricans in Baltimore from the 1800s to the present day. Through a humble, community-centered lens, we’ll share stories of Puerto Rican migration, neighborhood life, cultural traditions, and some of the Puerto Ricans who helped shape Baltimore’s history and Latino communities. As part of Tola’s Room’s BmoreBoricuas Project, the tour draws from archival research, historical records, newspapers, and community stories to illuminate a history that has often gone overlooked. Puerto Ricans have been part of Baltimore’s story for generations. This is one way we honor, remember, and continue that narrative.
