Baltimore Heritage 2020 Preservation Award Winners

On behalf of all of us at Baltimore Heritage, we would like to congratulate the winners of our 2020 Historic Preservation Awards. These people and their work are saving some of Baltimore’s most important historic places and transforming our city’s neighborhoods. Thank you!

We had been planning an in-person celebration for June to recognize the winners, but are canceling it because of the coronavirus. We are still thinking through how to celebrate this year’s awardees virtually and please stay tuned for that. In the meantime, take a look at the list below and if you know any of them, please reach out and say congratulations. They deserve it.

*If you were part of an award-winning project, and you were not listed below, please let us know.

  1. Peter Schulz says:

Any possibility of having a click-through image gallery or written description of the restoration work on the award-winning restored buildings?

  2. Sherry DeFrancisci says:

Wow! Being reminded of the wonderful restoration projects that have occurred this year was a bright spot in a month of disappointments. Thank you so much for all of the work you do to keep Baltimore vibrant and beautiful.

  3. R. Thompson says:

History in Minnesota tends to be about the families who brought their determination and skills to establish homes and communities, literally from the ground up. With the “past is prologue” as a firm guide in viewing the world, I have been educationally provoked from childhood to learn about and understand the impact of, first, national history and international histories. Travel has made me very aware of how little I actually know about the history of many countries, that “the past” for persons might be 25 years or 100, or more – but definitely is prologue to today’s attitudes and lifestyle. And, therefore, of what “global” means, whether international or, indeed, national.

The online Baltimore Heritage series has been a wonderful, visual/audio classroom. It has added to my understanding of the importance of Maryland history – of her people, places and events – in the story of the United States. Your presenters bring individual experience into their commentary, as they outline site background and development and community description. It has been a special gift during these shelter-in-place days.

Because my children and grandchildren have lived in the D.C. and Maryland area, I have been enjoyed visiting many Maryland sites and trails – including the Harriet Tubman trail. The series have given me a long list for future trips East!
