The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge on Eutaw Place, the Eubie Blake Cultural Center on Howard Street, and Davidge Hall downtown, the oldest medical teaching facility still in use in the Western Hemisphere: Central Baltimore is packed with wonderful historic places!

As part of Doors Open Baltimore 2018, join Tom Liebel, architect and chair of Baltimore’s Commission for Historical and Architectural Preservation, on a bus tour stopping at five fantastic historic places in central Baltimore: The Prince Hall Grand Lodge, named in honor of Boston native Prince Hall who helped form the first African American masonic lodge in America in 1784; the Eubie Blake Cultural Center, a hub for cultural arts on Howard Street named for jazz legend and Baltimore native Eubie Blake; Davidge Hall, built in 1812 with not one but two teaching-in-the-round circular auditoriums; Rachel’s Dowery Bed and Breakfast, an 18th century house where George Washington really did sleep; and the Ivy Hotel in Mt. Vernon, one of Baltimore’s most elegent hotels in a converted Victorian mansion. At each stop, we’ll learn a little architecture and heritage and hear what’s happening there today.

We’ll meet at the Pince Hall Masonic Lodge at 9:30 am and the bus will depart at 10:00 am. sharp! The tour will conclude back at the lodge at 12:30 pm. We hope you can join us!
