Corpus Christi 135th Anniversary Lecture: Patrick Keely’s Hidden Treasure on Bolton Hill

May 30, 2015 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

On Saturday, May 30, historian Ted Furey will talk about the man who designed Corpus Christi Church, the celebrate Irish architect, Patrick Charles Keely. By the early 1880s, Keely had designed numerous churches and cathedrals around the United States. After Louisa Carrell Jenkins made the gift to found the church, her children called upon Keelty to design the splendid edifice that still stands on Mount Royal Avenue today. Patrick Keely’s design incorporated ecclesiastical treasures from the John Hardman Studio of England and established the Jenkins Memorial Church as one of the finest Catholic churches in the United States.
