Our $50,000 Challenge Gift of 2021

Baltimore Heritage is pleased to announce that we have a very special fundraising opportunity this year! An anonymous donor to Baltimore Heritage has offered a $50,000 gift with the stipulation that it be matched dollar for dollar by generous givers such as yourself.

Please consider adding an extra amount on top of your membership gift to help us meet this $50,000 challenge match! If you donated last year, every dollar you donate above that amount will be matched one-for-one. If this is your first ever donation to us, then every dollar you donate gets matched completely. With your support we can meet this incredible challenge!

This match is in honor of William Boulton “Bo” Kelly

This $50,000 match is in honor of William Boulton “Bo” Kelly. In 1960, he founded Baltimore Heritage with a group of colleagues from the Junior Chamber of Commerce. Bo, as everybody called him, was a Harvard-trained architect and city planner who was worried that Urban Renewal would demolish Baltimore’s signature historic places and vibrant historic neighborhoods. Not stopping with Baltimore Heritage, Bo went on to help found the Baltimore Commission for Historical and Architectural Preservation in 1964 and the Baltimore County Historical Trust in 1979.

Bo Kelly in 2010

And as shown here in 2010, he helped re-create a bus tour for Baltimore Heritage’s 50th anniversary…the same tour he led back in 1960 that got us started. Bo’s extraordinary efforts and vision carry on today in Baltimore Heritage’s work to help people appreciate and preserve the wonderful places we have in the city that he loved.
